The Northern Pacific region encloses the province of Guanacaste. On July 25, 1824, Guanacaste annexed to Costa Rica by popular vote and became a part of the country, adding not only an ample portion of land but folkloric music, traditions, customs. A very important aspect is that Daniel Oduber Quiros International Airport is located in the town of Liberia, which makes things much easier when traveling to this area.
Experience a spectacular scenic drive that weaves its way between San Jose and the Caribbean Coast, past some of the most picturesque scenery across the stunning Braulio Carrillo National Park while on the way to Tortuguero.
A boat ride through the Tortuguero Canals enables visitors to observe a sequence of awesome sights and part of the amazing wildlife of this exuberant ecosystem, as a prelude to the inspirational visit to the Arenal conservation area with its vast landscapes and the awesome presence of the Arenal Volcano.
This journey ends up in the Northern Pacific, where countless beautiful beaches, fascinating national parks, picturesque towns and villages filled with an important historical and cultural heritage, and a variety of activities, including world-class fishing and diving, await visitors in the second largest province of Costa Rica, Guanacaste.
DAY 1 No meals included Assistance at the Juan Santamaria International Airport and immigration procedures. Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Time at leisure. The capital city, San José, lies at an altitude of 1,170 meters above sea level and is located in the central valley which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and majestic volcanoes. San Jose is the business center of the country and has the largest population concentration. Overnight at selected hotel.
DAY 2 Breakfast, lunch and dinner included early morning departure from San Jose to Tortuguero National Park. In one of Nature’s most amazing expressions the Park hosts 11 habitats with 2000 species of plants and 400 species of trees; besides a large diversity of wildlife. Green Turtles, an endangered species of the Western Hemisphere, nest along the beaches from July to October. Other turtle species: Baula and Carey also nest in Tortuguero National Park created in 1970. On the way, in Caño Blanco we transfer into a boat for a 2-hour ride
towards Tortuguero. After arrival and check-in, in the afternoon, a walk thru the quaint town of Tortuguero to visit the most important spots and the Turtle Museum (Caribbean Conservation Corporation exhibit), established in 1959 to study and protect the green turtles. Overnight at selected hotel
DAY 3 Breakfast, lunch and dinner included early morning, we depart on to the Tortuguero Canals on an exotic boat ride to experience the spectacular sights and wildlife. Tortuguero is a natural navigable network of lakes and canals that cross the Tortuguero National Park from Southeast to the Northwest, bringing freshwater to the park lands, which are home to 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles and 60 species of mammals. DAY 4 Breakfast and lunch included Transfer from Tortuguero to Fortuna de San Carlos on board the selected transportation. Just for you: the magnificent rural landscape and the simplicity and kindness of our people. Fortuna is literally the entrance to the Arenal volcano and offers great views of the impressive giant. DAY 6 Breakfast included. We leave Fortuna de San Carlos on to the Northern Pacific region on board the selected transportation. The Northern Pacific zone covers an extension of approximately 100 km with some of Costa Rica’s sunniest and more popular beaches. Guanacaste is a vacation and adventure destination complete with lowlands full of adventure, mountains, national parks, and volcanoes, picturesque towns and villages with an important historical and cultural heritage, and very appealing and diversified resorts, boutique hotels and luxury villas.
