The province of Limon on the Caribbean Coast is the capital of the Afro- Caribbean culture in Costa Rica.  It possesses dialects based on the English that have survived thanks to the natural barriers between the Central Valley and the Caribbean Coast. If a stop in Limon produces a little culture shock, it is a good equalizer for the journey ahead.

The first destination for this journey is the enchanting Caribbean Coast. Wonderful tropical rainforest, overflowing vegetation, diversity of wildlife, excellent eco-tourism opportunities, world-class fishing, and miles of breath taking beaches, where endangered sea turtles come ashore to lay their eggs, combine with the rich character of the region’s people. There is plenty of time for added gratification going to Arenal to delight with the beauty of the area and the Arenal Volcano.  More gratification in Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, that is considered as the most well- known cloud forest in the world for its wide variety of biodiversity, important conservation contributions and scientific researches. Traveling to the North Pacific is almost a surreal experience.  As the steep and winding roads gradually become flatter and straighter, the lush humid plant life becomes sparser and drier and the mountains, that before hemmed you on both sides, become relegated to the distant horizon, replaced by vast open flatlands.
