Details : 8 days-7 nights/San Jose-Tortuguero-Arenal-Monteverde

Reached only by airplane or boat, Tortuguero National Park is the third-most visited park in Costa Rica.  It covers nearly 14 miles of coastline and is one of the most important nesting sites in the world for the Green Turtle (Chelonia Mydas) that nests here from July to October.  Other less common species that also make their nests and lay their eggs in Tortuguero, from March to October, are the Leatherback, Hawksbill and Loggerhead turtles.

During a tender transfer into the Caribbean Coast we tour across the luxuriant Braulio Carrillo National Park. The entire Caribbean coast comprises the province of Limon that stretches for some 125 miles between Panama and Nicaragua.  The native indigenous heritage is still perceptible while the Caribbean culture clearly prevails in music, food, and language. Tortuguero is a navigable network of lakes and canals that cross the National Park from Southeast to the Northwest. This allows a great diversity of fauna and flora, of the region, to be seen at close hand. From splendid isolation in the rainforest to the majestic Arenal Volcano, this is a journey of fascinating scenic diversity.  This jaunt precedes the trip to the nearby Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, a zone surrounded by the Arenal conservation area encompassing a cloud forest reserve that is an outstanding wildlife sanctuary.

DAY 1 No meals included Assistance at the Juan Santamaria International Airport and immigration procedures. Transfer to your hotel for check-in. Time at leisure. The capital city, San José, lies at an altitude of 1,170 meters above sea level and is located in the central valley which is surrounded by beautiful mountains and majestic volcanoes. San Jose is the business center of the country and has the largest population concentration. Temperature ranges 18ºC-24ºC degrees. Overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 2 Breakfast, lunch and dinner early departure from San Jose to Tortuguero national Park. In one of nature’s most amazing expressions the Park hosts 11 habitats with 2000 species of plants and 400 species of trees; besides a large diversity of wildlife. Green Turtles, an endangered species of the Western Hemisphere, nest along the beaches
from July to October. Other turtle species:  Baula and Carey also nest in Tortuguero national Park created in 1970.   On the way, in Caño Blanco we transfer into a boat for a 2-hour ride towards Tortuguero. After arrival and check-in, in the afternoon, a walk thru the quaint town of Tortuguero to visit the most important spots and the Turtle Museum (Caribbean Conservation Corporation exhibit), established in 1959 to study and protect the green turtles. Overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 3 Breakfast, lunch and dinner  early morning, we depart on to the Tortuguero Canals on an exotic boat ride to experience the spectacular sights and wildlife.  Tortuguero is a natural navigable network of lakes and canals that cross the Tortuguero national Park from Southeast to the northwest, bringing freshwater to the park lands, which are home to 57 species of amphibians, 111 species of reptiles and 60 species of mammals. Overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 4 Breakfast included Transfer from Tortuguero to Fortuna de San Carlos on board the selected transportation. Just for you: the magnificent rural landscape and the simplicity and kindness of our people.  Fortuna is literally the entrance to the Arenal volcano and offers great views of the impressive giant.  Overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 5 Breakfast included Day at leisure to delight with the beauty of the zone.  Guests may choose among some optional activities that are available.

DAY 6 Breakfast included. We leave Fortuna de San Carlos on to Monteverde bordering the Arenal lake
on board the selected transportation.  Monteverde Cloud Forest reserve has earned its fame as one of the most outstanding wildlife sanctuaries near Santa elena Cloud Forest reserve. It extends down both the Caribbean and Pacific slopes with temperature and humidity gradients that change dramatically over relatively short distances. The people enjoy the fresh air, the sounds of the jungle and the life it gives. Overnight at selected hotel.

DAY 7 Breakfast included. Day at leisure. Overnight at selected hotel. DAY 8 Breakfast included. Transfer from Monteverde towards Juan Santamaria International Airport on board the selected transportation.
